About

What this lab is

This is an experimental companion to Political Guyentist. It runs the same news through a different design question, issue after issue:

What’s the fastest way to make the reader an expert on this topic?

So each lead story gets one graphic that has to teach something the words can’t: a true-area zoom, a speed chase, a price pipeline you can scrub through. The text stays short. You get why it matters, the catch when there is one, two real arguments only when both sides are rational, a sourced Go deeper drawer, and a take.

The formats change as the lab learns. Older issues keep the format they were made in. Facts are sourced in each story; opinions and analogies are ours. We run no photos unless a real, credited news photo adds information.

Pages here are experiments and aren’t indexed by search engines. See every issue or read the latest.

Lab test: depth dial prototype, built on the Oct. 19 stories.
